New Theatre

Over the course of one month in the summer of 2021, Class Act Productions transformed a warehouse location into a full theatre. My family and I were part of the team who quickly put the theatre together in time for our 1st performance, Les Miserables. We painted, tore down walls, built sets, cleaned, hung lights, put in a full sound system, and cleaned some more. I was asked to stage manage the first show in this brand-new theatre requiring me to figure out how the production would run backstage. The new theatre has limited backstage wings, especially on the left side. Entrances and exits had to be carefully timed so that the actors could avoid the set movements. A few cast members were incorporated into the set movements to minimize the number of additional humans backstage. The new theatre has limited dressing areas forcing the use of studio space for additional dressing space. Timing the movement of actors from the studio space through the shop in order to make their cue required coordination. Below are photos of the transformation of the warehouse space. Note that the initial photo is June 6, and the first production opened on July 8.
